Steps to enable spam protection on your wordpress website

Step 1: Login to your wordpress admin panel.
Step 2: In the left panel, under Plugins click Add New.
Step 3: Enter the Akismet plugin in the search box.
Step 4: Once found the Akismet plugin, click Install button.
Step 5: After the completion of installation, you may have to Activate plugin.
Step 6: As soon as you have the plugin activated you will need to enter your WordPress.com API Key.
Step 7: You can receive a WordPress.com API Key in just a few seconds by registering at: https://en.wordpress.com/signup/ Please use your real email address for the sign up where you will receive the API key.
Step 8: When you receive your API key you may enter it on the Akismet configuration page of your WordPress.
Step 9: Akismet checks your comments against the Akismet web service to see if they look like spam or not.
